Method

Figure transcribed from the national total row of the crop table, in the column the series declaration names with the report's literal label. The unit is not converted: the source prints it in dollars per pound and it is published that way, because a silent conversion would publish a different magnitude under this name. Each cell's status comes from the revision policy the report itself publishes and not from a constant: the most recent crop an edition prints is within its annual revision window and is born provisional; the earlier ones the same edition prints are born normal.

Confidentiality

No threshold barrier. The series belongs to the universe of series with no identifiable population: its figure is an aggregate market price and is not calculated over any person or firm this laboratory could count, so there is no sparse cell to protect and no unit to count. The reason is set out in the universe declaration and in ADR 0035.

Limitations

The figure is the national total. The per-state rows of the same table are not published, because no source record of this instance declares a territorial register for the United States against which to place them, and the country unit is registered with no start date for the same reason as the others. The report declares an annual revision and a later census one, and only the annual one can be evaluated cell by cell. The annual one is bounded by its own text, `The previous year's estimates are subject to revision when current year's estimates are made`, and the rule that sets each cell's status rests on it. The census one reads: `Estimates will also be reviewed after data from the 5-year Census of Agriculture are available. No revisions will be made after that date`. The document never states for any crop year whether that review has taken place or when it will, so no cell of this series can be declared closed on that account: a normal cell here means outside the annual window, not closed for good. The series is not compared with the Chilean ones without converting units: it is published in dollars per pound and the export ones in dollars per kilogram.

Revision policy

The whole series is recalculated when the agency publishes a new edition, and the previous version is kept as an erratum with its reason.
