Method

Ratio of the Chilean export FOB unit price to the weighted average of the international reference prices, at the same coordinate. The index equals one when the Chilean price matches that average, more than one when it exceeds it and less when it falls below. The United States price is published in dollars per pound and the others in dollars per kilogram, so it enters the average divided by 0.45359237 kilograms per pound. International Yard and Pound Agreement of 1959, which defines the avoirdupois pound as exactly 0.45359237 kilograms. It is a definition and not a measurement, so the conversion introduces no estimation. The cell's status is not declared: it comes from its inputs through the propagation order. The weight with which each price enters the index is stated in the method.

Confidentiality

No threshold barrier. The series belongs to the universe of series with no identifiable population: its figure is an aggregate market price and is not calculated over any person or firm this laboratory could count, so there is no sparse cell to protect and no unit to count. The reason is set out in the universe declaration and in ADR 0035.

Limitations

This indicator exists with its method published and does not yet publish any figure, and what it needs has been measured and belongs to its inputs: **as of this version, 2026-09-27, there is no year in which all its prices have cells**. The Chilean price covers the months of one year and the international prices cover different years, so there is no coordinate where they all coincide. Resolving the difference in granularity is not enough, because an annual aggregate of the Chilean price would still fall in a year where the international ones do not coincide with each other. An index computed without any one of its prices is a different index and is not published under this record. The reopening condition is exact: all its prices must have cells for the same year, and the rule for aggregating the monthly Chilean price to that year must exist.

Revision policy

The whole series is recalculated when the agency publishes a new edition, and the previous version is kept as an erratum with its reason.
