Method

A sum computed by the laboratory over the agency's animal health register. The source publishes one row per quarantine resolution, with its commune, its date and how many outbreaks that resolution declares, and publishes no figure per commune: a cell's value is the sum of the outbreaks column over the rows that fall in that commune within the year. That column admits any number, and in the published periods every row declares one outbreak. The commune is resolved against the official territorial register by the name the source prints, within the region the row itself declares, and a row whose commune does not resolve to exactly one unit stops the run. The regional and national totals come from the same rows.

Confidentiality

Threshold per apiary, using the programme's parameters. The sensitivity of this series lies in the coordinate rather than the measure: the commune, the date and the size of the apiary together point to a natural person in a commune with few beekeepers, even though no column names them. That is why the barrier is applied here: the step that reads the source returns the commune unsuppressed.

Limitations

A commune with no outbreaks is neither a suppressed cell nor a careless zero: it is a commune where the register declares none. The series measures confirmed outbreaks and not prevalence. The figure in each cell is a sum this laboratory makes over the outbreak column of the register's rows for that commune, and not a figure the agency publishes at that coordinate: the source is cited, the figure is attributed to this laboratory.

Revision policy

The whole series is recalculated when the agency publishes a new edition, and the previous version is kept as an erratum with its reason.
